RCI and II Vacation Exchanges

Enjoy fabulous vacations around the country and around the world! As an RCI Gold Crown Resort located Oceanfront on Hilton Head Island The Island Club offers tremendous trading power in vacation exchange programs through Resort Condominiums International, (RCI), and Interval International,( II).

Following are some of the fantastic RCI Vacation Exchanges my family and I have taken over the years.

July 2018 Oliva Nova Golf and Beach Resort, Valencia Spain. RCI #4192

Oliva Nova is located about an hour’s drive south of Valencia. It is a manicured Gold Crown resort that is direct oceanfront on the Mediterranean Sea. The long stretch of beach is great for walking with fine white sand next to clear blue water. I was there in early July so most of the guests were families from Spain, though there were a few French and German visitors as well.

There were three restaurants on-site.  The Grill served food all day long and the other two were fine dining and had set hours. A warning to Americans – dinner does not begin until 8:00-8:30 at night. There were some other dining spots within walking distance but they all have similar late hours. They were expensive as well (at least for my traveling budget).

As a timeshare guest to Oliva Nova, I had free access to a well equipped gym.  There is a Spa on-site with the typical Spa offerings at an additional cost. The pool was lovely and the covered lounges were a popular place in the heat of the day. There is a golf course and I believe a driving range. I enjoyed my stay here.  It is a good resort if you want to “chill”.  The beach was great and I especially loved watching the sun set behind the mountains.  It was spectacular (the sun sets around 9:30 in the summer).

If you would like any more info on they resort, please feel free to email me. I would be happy to share information with you.

Before staying at the resort, I traveled in the south of Spain to both Cordoba and Sevilla where you can see great architecture and history.  I visited the Mezquita in Cordoba ( a church that was changed into a mosque and then changed over again to a church). The streets of Cordoba are lined with orange trees so the sweet scent of orange blossoms are in the air everywhere. I took a day trip to Sevilla to see the Alcazar  ( a royal palace in the Mudejar style).  The gardens were beautiful and I found out that the 5th season of the Games of Thrones was filmed there. If you are going to Spain I would definitely try to see these two spots.

I flew in and out of Madrid so I was able to visit the Museum of Archeology and the modern art museum Reina Sophia where I saw works by Picasso, Gris, Dali and Miro. And of course I sampled Spain’s famous Jamon (ham), paella, tapas, olives and had my fair share of Rioja white wine.

I loved Spain and I will go back to explore more.  There are many different regions in Spain and they all have their own types of food, culture and history. Anyone ready to go?

September 2017 Lake Condominiums at Big Sky, Big Sky Montana. Just upstream from the Gallatin River and less than an hour to Yellowstone National Park! Some of the best trout fishing in the country is right at your door. Check out our friends at Wild Trout Outfitters.

June 2017. I had an RCI Exchange in the small town of Deidesheim, Germany which is on the famous wine road called the “Deutsche Weinstrasse”. The town was surrounded by vineyards so there were lots of great walking trails. I also recommend hiking in the nearby forest and visiting the neighboring towns where there is a 5th century castle and monastery.
